"Sanghaspace" is the name for the part of the Awakened Heart Sangha & Buddhism Connect website that is designed for people who are active students in the Awakened Heart Sangha.
You can tell when you're in Sanghaspace because it usually says "Sanghaspace" in the top left of the page. However, many of the features of Sanghaspace - like access to teachings and discussions - are only available to students in the Awakened Heart Sangha. You can "prove" to Sanghaspace that you're a student and should be allowed access to these by registering and logging in.
"Registering" and "logging in" may sound similar, but they are too distinct steps. "Registering" is when you get/choose a username and password and the Sanghaspace system learns of your existence. You should only ever need to register once, the first time you visit Sanghspace. You can start the registration procedure at the registration page:
http://www.ahs.org.uk/sanghaspace/register.asp
"Logging in" is when you come back to the site, and in order to let Sanghspace recognise you, you enter the username and password you gave when registering. You can log in at the login page:
http://www.ahs.org.uk/sanghaspace/logon.asp
"Registering" is a multiple stage procedure. First, you start it at the registration page above by entering your email address. If we find that email address in our master database of students, then we know (a) that you are a student, and (b) who you are. If the email address you give on this first registration page is not in our database then we have to ask you to email the office who will then update the database with your new email address (if you are an actual student). The second stage is that you have to click on a link in that email we send you, which demonstrates that the person trying to register is really you, the person listed in the database as having that email address. The third and last stage is that clicking this link takes you to a web page where you select from a few options, and then you're finished.
"Logging in" is a more ongoing business. The first point to note is that you are automatically logged in when you are registered, so you may not need to log in at all on your first exploration of Sanghaspace after registration. However, once you're logged in you may not stay logged in. Being "logged in" is a kind of temporary state that you may need to sometimes renew. It's obvious if you need to log in: Sanghaspace will tell you. And it's easy to do: just follow the link for login in (not registering) given above, and enter your name exactly as you gave it when registering) and password.
When logging in, there's a little tick box (that's a check box if you're American) just under where you enter your password. It says "Remember my login?". If you put a tick/check in it, then you should find that you do not need to log in each time you visit Sanghaspace - you should be recognised and still logged in even if you com back a day later.
If you find yourself gettng logged out repeatedly, even when you tick that box ...
Almost certainly your browser is being awkward about accepting cookies, tiny bits of information stored on your computer that underpin the login process and enable Sanghaspace to recognise you.
Two common causes are:
1) your browser's cookie settings have been set rather restrictively. In Internet Explorer, on the menus go Tools-->Options-->Privacy and choose "Medium" or lower on the slider.
2) You have some other program (like a firewall, security, adblocker, or anti-spyware) such as Norton that has opinions of its own about which "cookies" should be accepted. If you have such a program, try examining its "Cookie" or "Privacy" settings and making them less restrictive.
Only a very few people are having problems like this, so the problem is somewhere at your end. The permanent solution lies in 1) or 2) above or something similar. The temporary solution is of course simply to log in again (NOT register again) each time you're kicked out. The Sanghaspace homepage has a link on it called "login".
If you're still having trouble
You could try asking the Sanghaspace webmaster. You can email him/her at sanghaspace@ahs.org.uk. However, just about everything we know is here on this page and there's not much more we can say. And if you are having trouble, please please be very detailed in saying what is going wrong and where. There's nothing we can really do if you just say "I can't get onto Sanghaspace, help!"
